Who needs ice rink insurance
Ice rinks combine open-skate hours, hockey leagues, figure-skating programs, and (often) a Zamboni or ice-resurfacer. The injury profile is dominated by skater falls, hockey-puck contact, and Zamboni-related incidents. Carriers want documented ice-resurfacer maintenance, helmet enforcement on hockey, posted rules for open-skate, and waiver collection before binding. Seasonal outdoor rinks add weather-related exposure on top of the standard rink risks.
What makes ice rink underwrite differently
- Skater fall injuries β wrist and head injuries dominate open-skate claims
- Hockey puck and stick contact during league play
- Zamboni or ice-resurfacer operation β equipment-related claims
- Open-skate vs hockey vs figure-skating each have different supervision needs
- Seasonal outdoor rinks add weather and ice-quality exposure

State amusement-device registration
Most states regulate amusement devices separately from general business activity. Texas (TDLR), Florida (DACS), California (Cal/OSHA), North Carolina (NCDOL), Pennsylvania, and others require annual inspection, registration, and proof of insurance in a state-specific format. Our policies are written to comply, and we can issue proof-of-insurance documents in the formats most state amusement boards accept.
